Vard Tulcea SA, Romania - Blasting and Painting
The collaboration between Vard Tulcea SA and Minex Group began before 2000, when the Tulcea shipyard decided to modernize its existing blasting line by acquiring Rutten turbines.
The partnership continued in 2004 with the supply of equipment for the new blasting and painting-drying halls at the shipyard. The most complex project was carried out between 2012 and 2013, involving the construction of 5 fully equipped halls for blasting, painting, and drying:
- 3 halls with dimensions of 44 x 31 x 28 m;
- 2 halls with dimensions of 41 x 31 x 22 m.
These halls represent one of the largest constructions of their kind in Europe.
Equipment and features:
- Ventilation systems equipped with inertial heat exchangers for high energy recovery levels;
- Complete solutions for blasting and painting, optimized for large ship hulls.
Achieved benefits:
- Process efficiency: The new fully equipped halls doubled the shipyard’s blasting and painting capacity, optimizing operations and reducing processing times.
- Increased productivity: Modernized equipment and expanded capacity allowed for handling a larger workload in a shorter time.
- Energy efficiency: Inertial heat exchangers significantly reduced energy and natural gas consumption, lowering operational costs.
- Improved working conditions: Advanced ventilation systems ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for operators.
- Environmental protection: The shipyard’s carbon footprint was reduced through the implementation of sustainable solutions that optimize resource utilization.
Through this large-scale project, Vard Tulcea SA strengthened its position as one of Europe’s leading shipbuilders, demonstrating its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
