Why is it important to change the nozzles used while painting?

Airless tips wear out in time, depending on the type of the sprayed material (which may be more or less abrasive) and the pressure that was used during the painting process. A very important issue here is related to the way in which the equipment maintenance was done during the utilization of the pump.

The excessive use of a wear tip changes the spraying pattern, from a rectangle with rounded corners to an oval or circle one. This entails the necessity of multiple passes, in order to cover the same areas and, in addition, a large consumption of paint.

In order to optimize the application and to increase the productivity on the long run it becomes obvious that buying a new tip is less expensive than investing in additional quantities of paint and extra working hours. Moreover, the final result of the painting is also affected if old consumables are still in use.

As a rule, we recommend replacing the tip when the footprint size lost 25% of its original version.

Paint Pump maintenance

Fluid zone components require regular servicing or replacement over the equipment lifetime. Replacing seals in the right moment will allow significant savings of time and money. This operation can be performed in a service center and it is indicated also for protecting the hard parts of the pump.

It is advisable to periodically inspect the piston, the cylinder pump seals (piston and cylinder), the balls and the seats on both inlet and outlet.

Flexible hoses for painting operations

If spraying at high pressure, when the hose length increases (over 15m) it is recommended to also increase the hose diameter in order to reduce friction.

For standard applications it is advisable to use of a larger diameter hose in his first half while for viscous materials one with a constant diameter throughout its length is to be selected. This way high performance spraying will be maintained.

Hoses with cracks or leaks will not be repaired but must be replaced. A damaged hose may significantly increase the risk of injury.

When using several types of paint on the same pump and the same hose, on the inner walls of the hose particles will buildup and will reduce the passage section.

Checking the hose can be done by monitoring the pump flowrate. If the flow is not constant it means there are deposits on the inside of the hose and in this context hose replacement is mandatory.
