The 2020 look of the European Industry

A vision of the future plants

Through the Horizon 2020 European Program, 17 Billions EUR are going to be invested into projects that are focusing on industrial leadership. The main areas in focus are the IT technologies and the sensors and robotics industries.

East Europe is closely following the West trends

In most of the cases, when talking about subjects related to the European industry, people generally tend to think about the West side of the continent. Even so, there are high expectations from the Central and Eastern Europe (especially from Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania) to become innovative hubs as they have direct access to the funds and great research capacities.

New tendencies worldwide

Since the sanctions against Iran have been lifted, this country became far more interesting than Russia or China, especially for companies active in sectors related to aviation, automotive and shipbuilding.

New environmental rules

The latest regulations related to environmental protection focus on the permanent optimization of the energetic consumptions, and on using alternative energy resources, wherever possible.

According to the European Commission, the main objective here would be to reduce the gas emissions up to 40% until 2030, which would force companies to come up with new production technologies that are environmental friendly.

The intention is to implement on a large-scale technical solutions that work with alternative energy resources and/or those minimizing the overall cost.

New qualification for the generation “Industry 4.0”

In the next years there will be no main focus on creating new unqualified jobs in Europe. On the contrary, a redefinition of the entire industrial spectrum is envisioned. More qualified positions will become a real necessity. The working environment will be more and more dynamic and the activity profiles will be contextually designed, therefore needing more complex specializations.

3D printing technology will be used on a large scale, while nanotechnology will have an increased role in the production processes, especially due to Horizon Funds that are going to be used for mainly developing projects based on this topics.
