Testing the adhesive capacity and measuring the thickness of the protective layer during metallization

To get a specific profile able to ensure the resistance of the applied anticorrosive layer, blasting the surface before spraying it is mandatory. The rugosity level should be 50 microns.
Verifying the characteristics of the final layer is needed for determining its thickness and its adhesive capacity.
Recently Elcometer launched a piece of new equipment able to determine the features of the layers applied through metallization. Elcometer 456IPC is precalibrated based on 4 roughness intervals. This way, the operator can choose what best suits his particular situation.
For layers up to 250 microns, verifying the adhesiveness level can be done using the cross-hatch method with the help of Elcometer 107.
