Professional methods for floor preparation
14.03.2018
In order to ensure the quality of floor layering and covering works it is absolutely necessary to firstly remove the old painting marks, the deteriorated concrete areas and to create a profile that is adherent enough for the new coverage.
Floor blasting
The blasting operation is recommended in case of concrete surfaces on which one would like to come up with polymeric floors. The blasting machines use an alloy turbine that, when working at high speed disposes metallic abrasives onto the surface to be treated. The procedure is 99% clean. To be more specific, blasting a concrete area implies 3 simultaneous operations:
Removing contaminants from the concrete surfaces
Creating adherent profiles
Dust extraction during operations
The blasting angle and the operating speed can be adapted in order to obtain the desired profile type.
Due to the fact that blasting is organized in dry atmosphere the application of polymer floors can be done immediately after finalizing the surface preparation. Furthermore blasting helps in identifying the areas that need reparation works before coverage.
The equipment can be used in industrial halls, office buildings, parking lots, swimming pools and others alike.
Grinding
The grinding procedure is done through rotation under pressure and from the appropriate angle of one or more disks onto the surface to be treated. The method can be applied in case of horizontal surfaces, for removing the old paint marks and for layering the area before further coverage. The disks can be chosen depending on the type of operation: wet or dry applications.
The cutting systems for solid carbs that are generally used with scarifying machines are recommended for fine layering. The grinding machines, on the other hand, are generally used for layering the connecting dots, there where the level differences go up to 3 or 4 cm. The grinding operation allow getting finer finishing than in case of blasting or scarifying works.
During grinding there are no vibrations transmitted to the surface and removing of old paint is done simultaneously with the layering of the area.
Scarifying
The procedure involves the rotation of the cutting systems that act on the surface under a previously set angle. The operation is needed for removing the final layer of the floor while exposing a new one. Scarifying can remove layers of 0.6 cm at once. The machines can also be set to cut deeper.
The operation is recommended when an in depth cleaning of the surface is needed, in case of substantial renovation works in production halls, factories, farms, and parking lots.
Scraping
The procedure is ideal in case of renovation works. The machines can remove wood floors, ceramic floors, linoleum, vinyl and carpet floors.
Vacuum cleaners – the must have accessory
The vacuum cleaners are suitable for both indoor and outdoor utilization and they ensure that the surface preparations are organized under proper conditions.
