Climatic conditions monitoring before painting

Applying a coating on a wet surface will lead to poor adhesion of the coating to the base material. Coating failure will expose the base material to corrosion effects, making the repainting an imminent operation, which is, unfortunately, extremely costly.

In order to avoid these extra expenses it is recommended to measure and record all the climatic parameters prior painting.

If the surface temperature drops below a certain value, the atmospheric water vapors condense and forms small droplets on the surface. This certain temperature is also known as Dew Point.

If the air temperature is too low, then a longer time for the coating to cure will be required, extending therefore the work execution period.

Elcometer 319 was particularly designed to measure and record the relative humidity, the air temperature, the surface temperature, the dew point, the difference between surface temperature and dew point temperature, the dry bulb temperature and the wet bulb temperature.

Therefore, using only one device and measuring at the right time, one can save significant time and financial resources.
