Choosing the appropriate cleaning system for abrasives will cut the operational costs in blasting halls

The cleanness level of the abrasives influences the quality of the surface that is supposed to be treated while using them, the level of productivity achieved within the blasting hall, the lifetime of consumables and the working conditions for the operators.
Cleaning the abrasive material means removing all contaminants and dust resulted during blasting and extracting the abrasive with a nominal size which is inferior to the one recommended for the application.
In the metal processing field, choosing the cleaning system for abrasives has to take into account the recovery system as well.
In case of pneumatic systems, simple separators are usually put into place. Only the dust is extracted. No bigger particles or elements with a similar density to the one of the abrasive are separated during the process. Even so the solution is not optimum it is still capable to cover the basic needs, especially if there are budget limitations to be considered.
When using mechanical recovery systems it is recommended to integrate them with fix or vibrating strainers. The last ones are capable to automatically separate the abrasive from other elements while eliminating the dust in the same time.
The incorporated cleaning system allows passing the abrasive with controllable speed enabling a proper separation of it from any other particles.
The best results can be achieved when using the vibrating strainers. In this case the separated elements are collected in a special compartment, so that the filtering systems remains clean for longer periods of time.
